Recipe: Citrus Lift Effervescence Enhancing Mocktail (or Cocktail) featuring Tangerine, Chamomile, Lemon Balm, Yarrow, Elderflower

To celebrate the Summer Solstice this bubbly and uplifting blend will enhance relaxation and sleep when the time comes. So let's get into the science & energetics of constructing this balanced summer beverage.

The Science of Citrus Lift:

Did you know that the smell of oranges and tangerines has been shown to improve mood and optimism?

One of the most important compounds in orange and tangerine skin is d-limonene. D-limonene is a terpene that has been shown to have mood-boosting effects. In one study, people who took d-limonene supplements for eight weeks reported feeling happier and more optimistic than those who did not take the supplements.

And that's just the beginning!

Yarrow Flower Macro

Lemon balm contains Rosmarinic acid and the essential oil of Lemon Balm which have been shown to reduce anxiety and stress, as well as improve sleep quality. Lemon balm is also a good source of antioxidants, which can help to protect cells from damage.

Yarrow contains flavonoids and Chamazulene that have been shown to reduce inflammation and pain, as well as boost the immune system. Yarrow is also a good source of vitamins A and C, which are important for overall health.

Chamomile contains Alpha-bisabolol and Chamazulene that have been shown to reduce anxiety, improve sleep quality, and boost the immune system. Chamomile is also a good source of antioxidants, which can help to protect cells from damage.

Elderflower contains Quercetin which has been shown to have antiviral and antibacterial properties. Elderflower is also a good source of vitamins A and C, which are important for overall health.
